Green Community in rural Hertfordshire submitted for planning

Our plans are for the redevelopment of a former egg packing unit in rural Hertfordshire. The proposals are for 26 dwellings and 4 light industrial work units. There is a good mix of affordable and private homes with 30% being allocated to housing associations. Our goal was to provide a benchmark low carbon sustainable community with a balance of social, economic and ecological living. Features include a mix of Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and 5, home offices, bio-diverse landscaping, fruit and nut bearing trees, SUDS drainage and allotment facilities for all residents. A critical planning and conservation issue was to ensure the architectural form contributed to the prevailing Chiltern vernacular.
