Deans Farm Masterplan
Detailed design development for a rural community of mixed housing and small scale work units (38 dwellings and 9 work units). The site is currently occupied by an egg packing facility that is no longer required. Further commercial use for the facilities have not been forthcoming. Fundamental to the design proposals is the need to establish a development that meets the goals for a viable sustainable development and this encompasses a number of aspects including community and ecological well being, local character, low or zero carbon strategies and market suitability.
Waterfront Masterplan
A waterfront masterplan in NE England including retail, leisure and housing and the new headquartersfor the council services which serves as a pioneer project accommodating new jobs and performing an urban role in being the focus for the first phase of the regeneration of the site. The business centre is arranged on four levels with the entrance halls on the town square and ferry approach respectively.
Ft William Masterplan
The town of Fort William lies in the most strategic point of the West Highlands of Scotland. The intersection of routes to the Isles, the proximity to Glencoe and the tidal waterfront creates a leisure opportunity unmatched in Britain. Fort William is already home to world class events in skiing, sailing, mountain biking, hiking, diving, Combining these activities with a cultural centre and a cruise terminal port will make Fort William the entry point to Scotland. The existing waterfront is disconnected from the town by a misplaced dual carriageway The scheme aims to reunite Fort William to the water and the historic fort by reclaiming land on the waterside of the trunk road. Land is reclaimed from the substantial tidal flats along the waters edge.
Drakelow
The Drakelow site is located to the north of Kidderminster in the West Midlands and houses a 2500m2 subterranean complex. The complex was tunnelled in during world war 2 to accommodate a shadow factory producing Bristol Hercules Aero engines. Between 1958 and 1980 the tunnel complex was used to house the Regional Seat of Government in the event of nuclear strike during the cold war. With the site now decommissioned and in private ownership an opportunity came about to restore this facility and surrounding landscape. Our proposal for the Drakelow site puts sustainable communities goals into action by developing a unique training campus combining practical training skills for disadvantaged people within an environment in balance with the existing ecology.
Gosling Sports Complex
The various aspects of the site due to the building configuration, the river, the lake and the adjacency with the park provide the basis for a set of landscape zones. These provide a ‘natural’, and sustainable rationale for the functional insertions, (enhancing the riverside walk, improving the boating and fishing facilities) and provide a series of transitional and merging spaces which naturally evolve from the land and built form by placing the greenest landform components, (skiing, track & field and golf facilities) on the southern border to maintain the open aspect of the park to its southern boundary.
